About the Santa Fe Leadership Program
Origins
The Santa Fe Seminar was initiated in 1997 to foster a deeper understanding between the U.S. and Japanese nuclear communities. In total we have hosted eight seminars over the last several decades, bringing together senior American government officials with presidents of Japanese electric utilities. In the spirit of the Santa Fe Seminars, we established the Leadership program in 2016 to introduce a new generation of U.S. leaders in nuclear energy to Japan.
Vision/Mission
The Santa Fe Leadership Program enhances participants’ knowledge of Japanese energy policy and US-Japan relations and deepens the bonds between our two countries to promote a prosperous future.
Program
The Santa Fe Leadership Program consists of an intense weeklong trip to Japan where our American leaders, who are prominent energy and nonproliferation professionals, meet and exchange ideas with top Japanese executives, government officials, and thought leaders. This year, Santa Fe participants will tour the Fukushima-Daiichi nuclear power plant and Rokkasho Reprocessing Plant and meet with the Federation of Electric Power Companies of Japan, the Atomic Energy Association, and government officials.
